About
Boy With the Magic Lollipop was inspired by my oldest child, Joey, requesting a story. On the car ride to karate, my husband would ask Joey for small details which he would then incorporate into the stories later on the way home. As Joey grew older, he began adding more to the stories. At times, we would all take turns telling a part of the story and passing it on to the next person to continue. As an elementary school teacher with an addiction to books, I knew these stories were too fun to keep to ourselves. I decided to try to write them down. As a family of three, we decided to use the location of our first family vacation for the setting. While stranded in a London airport for thirteen hours, I wrote on a small notepad the first draft of book one.
Eventually, our daughter, Bailey, was born. She loved these stories and from an early age began jumping in to add more details. The first book was still in the works and we felt bad that she had not had a part to play in a story that should also belong to her. So we named the candy shop after her. She was old enough when we began to edit the book to sit and give opinions-even though most of them were, “I agree with Mommy.”
When we sent book one off to be published, I sat down at the dinner table and wrote book two. As soon as we have sold enough copies of book one, we will be able to publish book two. We have many more books planned for the future. We hope your family enjoys these adventures as much as we do. We encourage you to go to the submissions page and give us ideas if you want to see them in future books. Part of the fun of these stories is the contribution you get to make to the story and we would love to hear your ideas too!
